A political entity
with a permanent population, in a defined territory with a
government that has the capacity to enter into relations with
and is recognized as sovereign by other states. |

has previously or is currently issuing its own currency; a
currency union; a pan-country organization servicing a number of
states.

A non-country entity
that issues or has issued legal tender currency for use in a local area
or a
currency that may have wider use but is not issued by a
recognized country. |

A currency issuing
entity that does not fall into one of the above categories;

individual issuing a banknote type certificates for
political, commemorative or other purposes. |
