BACKGROUNDER - ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The Mannesmannröhren-Werke was a steel factory in Saarbrücken and other towns in the Saar-area. They were one of the main factories for armament in WWI. Notes issued for the different departments are all uniface and most of them exist  w/o no. or signature, but often have a handstamp "Bezahlt" (i.e. paid for). Denominations of 5, 10 and 20 Mark have been reported. Although without a date, issues are thought to have been printed in 1919.

KS   We gratefully acknowledge the late Dr. C. "Kees" Schuddeboom for providing the scans and  background information on these private issues.

Please visit Kees  family eBay listings as you are sure to find fairly priced, interesting and unusual items and he was always a pleasure to deal with.
