The Mannesmannröhren-Werke was a steel factory in Saarbrücken and other towns in the Saar-area. They were one of the main factories for armament in WWI. Notes issued for the different departments are all uniface and most of them exist w/o no. or signature, but often have a handstamp "Bezahlt" (i.e. paid for). Denominations of 5, 10 and 20 Mark have been reported. Although without a date, issues are thought to have been printed in 1919. KS We gratefully acknowledge the late Dr. C. "Kees" Schuddeboom for providing the scans and background information on these private issues. |
