BACKGROUNDER

Ferenc Szálasi  was  a wicked man who's government murdered 10,000–15,000 Jews. After the war, he was executed after a trial by the Hungarian court for war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during his administration.

From the start of the German occupation of Hungary in 1944, Jews and Roma were deported to the Auschwitz concentration camp. By the end of the war, the death toll was between 100,000 and 250,000 Hungarian Jews and an estimated 28,000 Hungarian Roma.
