**BACKGROUNDER**
The Junta Central Repúblicana de Cuba y Puerto Rico was a revolutionary group located in New York. These banknotes were issued to raise funds for the revolutionary army and were purported to be convertible to Junta bonds in minimum amounts of 100 Pesos.
