Recently Banco Central de Venezuela (B.C.V.) put into circulation
a new note of 10,000 Bolivares, dated February 10, 1998. More
details about this new note as follows:
10,000 Bolivares (1998) red on m/c underprint. Face:
Libertador Simon Bolivar at right. This portrait
corresponds to a miniature painting made by J. Yañez in 1821.
Bolivar is wearing a full dress uniform with three golden medals in
the original painting. This painting belongs to General Guzman
Blanco, who was president three times at the end of the last
century.
BACK: Theater Teresa Correño, at center, and Venezuela's
arms at right in brown. This theatre was built in Caracas, and
it was opened in 1983. It is the most important cultural
center of Venezuela. This complex is named for Teresa Correño
(1853-1917), a famous pianist.
This new note became the highest denomination in Venezuelan
numismatic history.
