Hello Folks!
Welcome back to another platform done by me. A lot of
things have happened during the past months. But let me start
with the beginning! First of all I have become a Lifetime
Member of LANSA. The idea has kept coming to me, so after
having had a good dialogue in letters with Arthur C. Matz I decided
to change my status. Now, I will not have to worry about the
annual payment anymore..
Some of you may already have noticed. Yes, I have a new
address, since we have moved to another house. It is only a
small journey of about 3 kilometers. However, I can assure you
moving takes a lot of time and energy for painting and
everything. So for the past months paper money is something I
have only been dreaming about!
Going away! However, I am very confident about the
future. I have a lot of appetite on paper money. Thus I
am looking very much forward to going to PaperMoney 99 in
Maastricht, Holland. In case you are in the neighborhood, it
is during the days 16th to 18th of April 1999. It will be my
second visit to the show and certainly not the last.
Before that I will be going to France or as a matter of fact
Paris. I am looking very much forward to it, as it seems very
likely I will get the chance to meet Nick Chawalla, another member
of LANSA. I think it will be great to meet another
fellow-collector. I am not too used with it.
New catalogue! When I say I am confident about the future,
I also come to think about the fact that Colin Bruce III and his
collegues have been working on a new edition of Pick's Paper Money,
volume I. I have recently sent in my contributions for the
catalogue, so I am curious to see the book.
I am a loyal supporter of these different books about paper money
coming from Krause publications. It is my experience that they
give me a lot of information and knowledge that would have been hard
to get otherwise.
Good Idea! Now returning to Nick Chawalla again. he
has gotten an excellent idea. I want to tell you about it,
since Nick would appreciate some help from other collectors.
That is one point. Another is that there is a lot of talk
about getting more people onboard the ship of paper money
collectors. Well, here is someone trying to do something.
His idea is that he has created a whole exhibition of paper
money. He wants to get involved with collectors everywhere, so
that they together can arrange local exhibitions which hundreds of
different banknotes from more than a hundred countries.
When visiting this exhibition I am sure people will find out,
both children and adults, that collecting paper money is much more
fun than collecting stamps, etc. If you want to know more
about the project, write to Nick right away. His address
is: Nick Chawalla, 28 Rue Du Dr. Heulin, F-75017 Paris,
France.
Send a mail or fax! The world is in rapid change, even most
of the time I would say. Technology plays a major role in
almost every household. In the past year I have gotten anew
computer, a fax and admission to the Internet. As a
consequence I can only call upon all the readers to send me a fax or
soon an email. I am trying to get it in function. Write
and comment on the platform, etc. Anything. Look forward
to your
comments...
