This note is seldom seen by the average collector, and when available is cataloged at $200.00 - 300.00 for an EF/UNC. note.

ARGENTINA

Argentina produced its sole commemorative note in celebration of 131 years of economic independence - 1816-1947.  The commemorative note is an overprint on Pick 264, with the overprint of the noted date - 1816-1947 - on the back of the note.  This note is easily obtained in high grade.

CUBA

Cuba issued its first commemorative note in 1953, celebrating the centennial of the birth of Jose Marti, Cuba's revolutionary hero.  Marti worked many years as a journalist and political activist to gain support for the revolutionary forces for Cuba's liberation from Spain.  he was killed in battle in 1895, during the invasion of Cuba by the liberation forces.  Rarity is R, with a Cu specimen cataloged at $150.00 to 200.00.

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

The Dominican Republic celebrated the "Ano del Benefactor de La Partria" with one issue.  The note refers to Rafael Leonidas Trujillo, Dictator from 1931 until his assassination in 1961.  The note is an overprint on the regular P83 note with the above quotation in red on the front of the note.

Rarity:  This note probably qualifies as RRRR or even R5, since the catalog value is listed (-) which indicates that there hae been no recent sales in the market place to judge a fair price.  It is rumored that this note may never have been issued.
