Earlier this year a friend of mine visited Cabo San Lucas at the
southern point of Baja California. He said it was a great place for
a vacation. While he was there he also made a "side trip" to La Paz,
Baja California. During his visit he found and purchased for me a
5 Pesos 1914 Goblerno Constitucionalista Territtorio de la Baja
CA "note".
On the front of this note is the standard "hacienda sello" with
the legend "Jefatura Politica del Distrito Sur de la Baja California
LA PAZ"
On the reverse is another "hacienda sello" with a partially
readable legend at top. This legend is "Ayuntamiento de la
Municalldad". I have no problem with this portion of the
"sello".
The bottom portion of this reverse side "hacienda sello"
is difficult to read and it appears to be "H San
"unreadable word". This portion could also be M San "unreadable
word". ("H" for hacienda or "M" for
Municipalidad.).
I located a history of the Baja at our local library and in that
book it stated that prior to the 1910 Revolution the entire Baja
area was divided into seven "municipalldades". One of these
municipalldades was "San Antonio". This is a possibility only
because San Antonio is the closest name to resemble that on the "sello
de hacienda" legend.
If any has a Baja 1914 note with a more readable "hacienda sello"
I will appreciate receiving a copy or any information.
In addition, if anyone has any variations of this "hacienda
sello" of Baja California it would be extremely helpful to my
research of these interesting military scrip issues. Thank you & Muchas Gracias
