13 Aug, 2007 - Cuba has released into circulation two new banknotes. The first is a 10 Peso 2005 Series, and the other is a 20 Peso 2007 Series. Compliments of Ronny Hick.

08 Jul, 2007 - Cuba has released into circulation two new banknotes dated 2005. The first is a 1 Peso note, and the second is a 50 Peso note. Compliments of Ronny Hick.

 

30 Jan, 2007 - Cuba power generator built by a Korean company appears on new 10-peso banknotes issued by the Central Bank of Cuba from the start of this year. After winning a bid in 2005, Hyundai Heavy Industries has been installing 544 package power stations, or PPS systems, in 41 areas around Cuba. A ceremony to mark the completion of the first installation is scheduled take place at the end of this month in the capital Havana.

20 Jan, 2007 - Cuba has released a new 2006 dated 20 Pesos Banknote. Compliments of Claudio Marana.

 

07 Jan, 2007 - Cuba: A number of new dates have been reported for Cuban notes to include 20 Pesos 2002, 2004, and 2005; 50 Pesos 2003. Compliments of Rafal Nogowczyk.

 

23 Dec, 2006 - The Banco Central Cuba has released a new 2006 series of Pesos Convertibles which includes all denominations. The series was placed into circulation from the 18th of December 2006.

Seems unusual that there would be such a span of years between issues so there may be other dates, or this may be an entirely new issue similar to the 1995 issue. CUBA PNL 5 Convertible Pesos 2005

 

28 Dec, 2005 - A new Cuban 5 peos Convertibles note, dated 2005, has appeared in the market. Compliments of MRI Bankers' Guide to Foreign Currency.

CONVERTIBLE PESOS

In 1994 the circulation of the new Cuban convertible peso is introduced in the country. It is equivalent to one American dollar, in order to facilitate transactions in foreign exchange with a monetary sign of our own.

They were issued by Banco Nacional de Cuba with the face values of 1, 3, 5, 10 50 an d 100 convertible pesos to be accepted by the commercial network of assets and services operating in foreign exchange.

Front: As the main vignette a partial view of monuments of heroes of our independence and liberation wars. Different colours for each denomination. Denominations in letters, arabic numbers and Braille system. The series composed by two letters and two digits, and the number integrated by six digits. The signature of the president of the Banco Nacional de Cuba. Year of printing: 1994. Text stating its monetary and exchange guarantee for freely convertible currency.

Back: Common design to all denominations.The vignette corresponding to the national shield of the Republic of Cuba. Denomination in numbers. Text stating its unlimited legal tender.

Size: 150 x 70 mm.

Security items for all denominations:
Water mark (Visible against the light José Martí's effigy).
Security thread microprinted with the text "PATRIA O MUERTE VENCEREMOS".
Motive with perfect coincidence front/back (5 points star).
Latent Image. The legend BNC can be read at a certain visual angle.
Calcographic Microprinted (en relieve).
Lithographic Microprinted luminiscent under ultraviolet light.
